Abstract

This research aims to determine the existence of (1) an increase in the students' mastery of concepts by using multi-representation based learning strategies. (2) the relationship of multi-representation based learning strategies. (3) the influence of multirepresentation-based learning strategies to increase students' mastery of concepts on the subject of heat. This type of research is quantitative research with the method used is one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study amounted to 69 students, namely students of class X even semester at SMA PGRI Kota Jayapura for the 2019/2020 academic year. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling technique which consisted of 24 students. Data on the improvement of students' mastery of concepts were collected through the pretest and posttest. To determine the increase in students' mastery of concepts using N-Gain analysis. To see the relationship between multi-representation-based learning strategies and the increase in students' mastery of concepts on the subject of heat, the Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPM) was used. To see the effect of multirepresentation-based learning strategies on increasing students' mastery of concepts on the subject of heat, a simple regression equation is used. The results of the research show that the correlation value (r) between the multirepresentation-based learning strategy towards the improvement of students' conceptual mastery is 0.89. This value of r has a very strong relationship interpretation. The amount of the contribution of multirepresentation-based learning strategies to the increase in students' mastery of concepts on the subject of heat is indicated by the coefficient value (KP) of 79.71%. The results of the PPM correlation test showed that there was a relationship between multi-representation based learning strategies and the increase in students' mastery of concepts on the subject of heat. The results of the simple regression test showed that there was an influence between multi-representation-based learning strategies on increasing students' mastery of concepts on the subject of heat. The regression equation Ŷ = 0.12 + 0.01X and the data is linearly patterned.
