However, English language skills specifically for MM class are still lacking, around 73.46% or 7 students stated that writing is an obstacle. Therefore, Discovery Learning (DL) research using authentic materials was applied to achieve learning outcomes and determine the improvement of students' learning outcomes, especially in composing procedure texts. Classroom action research, where each cycle has stages of planning, implementation, observation and reflection of action, was carried out at SMK Muhammadiyah Aimas through three cycles (6 meetings) involving 13 students majoring in Multi Media class X in odd semester. The teacher acted as the main researcher. Data was collected using tests and product assessment sheets. Data analysis was carried out by comparing the results in cycles I, II and III quantitatively, while observation data was investigated qualitatively. The results showed that Discovery Learning and the Use of Authentic Materials are likely to be effective in improving the learning outcomes of students in class X majoring in Multi Media. In terms of process, students felt that their learning outcomes improved from an average of 73.46 to 81.38. A score improvement was also seen in the students' test results which increased from 46.2% in cycle I to 77.23% in cycle II, and further to 81.38% in cycle III. In conclusion, Discovery Learning and Authentic Material can be an alternative effort to create meaningful experiences in creative learning, independence, and skill in communicating orally and in writing.

2023-10-06T04:51:07+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://unimuda.e-journal.id/jurnalinteraction/article/view/4514 Fables Writing Skills for Class VIII Students of SMPN 2 Pakuhaji Tangerang 2023-10-07T09:28:25+00:00 Emi Emi emikosasih7@gmail.com Juli Yani yanijuli90@gmail.com
The research background is that the low level of students' ability to write fables is inadequate. Contrarily, research reveals that English proficiency among Palembang pupils’ declines. This article details a study that looked at how much EFL English majors at PGRI Palembang University improved their ability to write argumentative essays after being subjected to genre-based writing exercises with their writing instructors. The findings showed that students consistently struggled to criticize or refute opposing viewpoints and come up with more powerful rebuttals, even after being exposed to the preparation of genre-based argumentative essays. However, they were able to demonstrate development in their ability to recognize the rhetorical structures (genres) and lexicon-grammatical characteristics of the full argumentative essay. The strategy received favourable feedback from the participants. The paired sample t-test also revealed that students' post-intervention argumentative texts significantly outperformed their pre-intervention drafts. It is commonly accepted that students may regulate the linguistic aspects of the type of text with a specific communicative aim and comfortably enhance their writing skills by studying through a genre-based approach to writing. The consequences for teaching writing in an EFL setting are demonstrated in this essay. The lack of students' ability to write procedural texts is due to a lack of familiarity with students' literacy activities that support their learning activities. This condition is seen from the students' lack of understanding in analyzing the general structure of the text, resulting in difficulties in creating procedural texts that are good and correct and can be utilized by readers. To overcome this problem, socialization was held which aimed to maximize writing procedural texts using Food Truck literacy media. This Community Service is located at Putra Anda Binjai Vocational School, where the Education Unit Teaching Assistance program is implemented. The methods used in this training are lectures, discussions and demonstrations. The results of the training show that food truck literacy learning can be used as an alternative in improving the ability to write procedural texts, this increases students' creativity in writing creative and useful procedural texts. However, research on investigating students’ opinion on the implementation of kahoot and students’ recommendation for educational stake-holders is uncommon. This study relies on semi-structured interview data from 15 second-year students (10 female and 5 male) enrolling in the Introduction to Linguistics Class in English Education Department of STKIP Yapis Dompu. This study aims to explore the benefits of the use of kahoot, the barriers and students’ recommendation to educational stake-holders for improvement. The data were analysed using thematic analysis adapted from (Braun & Clarke, 2006) which consists of 6 steps. The finding of this paper suggested that the implementation of kahoot in learning process had four benefits: Firstly, Kahoot creates fun and interested learning atmosphere. Secondly, it riggers students’ attention and focus. Thirdly, it facilitates comprehension of material Taught. Lastly, Kahoot! fosters positive competitiveness among students. Additionally; there were two main barriers of using kahoot in this research: firstly, limitations on internet access. Secondly, not enough time to answer. The surprising conclusion of the research was that, all participants had never been exposed to game-based learning platform during their formal school (elementary and high school); they only were only exposed to game-based learning platform at this introduction to linguistics class. Therefore; all participants highly recommended to all lecturers and teachers to game-based learning platform in their teaching. This study relied on game-based learning platform kahoot. Therefore, similar study which explores other game-based learning platforms is highly recommended.
2023-12-24T22:36:44+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://unimuda.e-journal.id/jurnalinteraction/article/view/5687 Important Factors for User-Generated Content for Tourists Visiting Ciwidey Nature Tourism 2023-12-28T10:15:26+00:00 Muhammad Yusuf Iskandar Alimansyah sylthas@student.telkomuniversity.ac.id Vany Octaviany vany@tass.telkomuniversity.ac.id
Social media has become the main means in this digital era to share experiences and obtain information on tourist attractions in the form of user generated content which is used as material for tourists to consider when visiting tourist attractions in an area, one of which is the Ciwidey tourist area. In this research, a strategy was produced to accelerate the capacity of Islamic financial institutions to compete with conventional financial institutions. This research also produced basic (grand), corporate, and functional strategies for accelerating the development of Indonesian Syariah financial institutions.
2024-01-05T07:30:33+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://unimuda.e-journal.id/jurnalinteraction/article/view/5895 The Study on Teaching Present Continuous Tense Using Games at the Tenth Grade of SMAK Giovanni Kupang 2024-01-25T02:24:46+00:00 Chamelya Vivi Crystanty Sene vivisene27@gmail.com Antonia Tefa annietefa@gmail.com
The purpose of this research article is to address the following inquiries: (1) Can tenth-grade students proficiently acquire the present continuous tense through game-based instruction? This is because only a tiny segment of the population—coffee lovers—will see value in coffee as a stand-alone commodity. Indonesia is the world's largest producer of coffee, so it has the potential to grow its coffee tourism industry. Indonesia must strengthen its coffee tourism industry to combine tourism and coffee as commodities. Regarding the growth of coffee tourism in Indonesia, bibliometric analytic techniques have not yet been investigated in any studies. As a result, this topic requires research into bibliometric analytical methods. This study uses the technique of bibliometric analysis, which is used to evaluate bibliographic data found in articles or journals, to classify, measure, and analyze information found in articles such as titles, authors, keywords, research methodological approaches, data collection, and research results, and to learn more about the extent of academic research on the growth of coffee tourism in Indonesia. Studies on tourism development, coffee tourism, and Indonesia included topic areas with titles, keywords, and abstract requirements. According to the study's findings, Indonesia saw a fluctuating number of articles from 2012 to 2022 about tourism and coffee tourism growth. Elsevier was the publisher that produced the most publications on this subject, and according to the number of citations, Elsevier had the most citations overall. Then, it was discovered that P. Kuswarini was the most productive writer among the authors of essays on these two subjects. One indicator that more students are less able to use English to communicate is seen from the TOEIC Prediction Test Score, which has only reached 26.5% for students who got a TOEIC score above 405. Apart from improving competency, this training also aims to determine predicted TOEIC scores and increase English communication skills for SMK Negeri 44 Jakarta students. This activity is carried out as training before taking the TOEIC Prediction Test, which is conducted for 6 hours (3 hours per day). Introductory training about TOEIC and how to do TOEIC questions, which total 200 questions, is an effort to get a TOEIC score above 400. Implementing this activity is carried out by providing training in the form of delivering Listening Comprehension and Reading Comprehension material, discussions, and TOEIC test simulations, including listening and reading skills. Two hundred students of SMK Negeri 44 Jakarta attended this activity. The activity results showed increased knowledge about TOEIC, how to answer TOEIC questions, and student competence in the TOEIC test. It can be seen from the questionnaire distributed after attending the training. The questionnaire results showed an increase in students' knowledge of the TOEIC test with a percentage of 90% and an increase in students' English competence to communicate using English. However, it still needs to be better regarding value or score improvement. The highest TOEIC score from test participants was 890, and the lowest TOEIC score was 60. Of the total 200 students, 53 students got a score above 405 or still only 26.5%, so to get better results, it is recommended that the training time be increased to 10 -12 hours.
2023-10-07T00:00:00+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement##
